Who is Aegon Targaryen?
Aegon Targaryen is the sixth King of the Andals and the Rhoynar and the First Men and Lord of the Seven Kingdoms. His rule is disputed by his half-sister, Rhaenyra Targaryen, who claims the Iron Throne by right of birth. Aegon is a skilled warrior and a charismatic leader, but he is also known for his cruelty and ruthlessness.
The Green Council and Aegon's Ascension
In the wake of King Viserys I Targaryen's death, the Greens, a faction of the royal court that supports Aegon, are determined to secure his ascension to the throne. They convene the Green Council, which declares Aegon the heir to the Iron Throne and disinherits Rhaenyra.
Aegon's Reign as King
Aegon's reign as king is marked by conflict and bloodshed. Rhaenyra and her supporters launch a civil war against Aegon and the Greens, known as the Dance of the Dragons. Aegon proves to be a ruthless and effective commander, but his cruelty and paranoia alienate many of his followers.
